The Linear Ion Trap Mass Spectrometer type LTQ XL from Thermo Scientific is based on advanced technology that produces detailed, accurate and high-resolution structural information of compounds. PQD, ETD and CID are the multiple dissociation techniques employed that enable more enhanced and detailed information on various peptides, proteins and other biomolecules. All the ion trap mass spectrometers have an inherent low mass cut-off concern, which is eliminated by LTQ XL through the Pulsed Q Collision Induced Dissociation PQD technique. The LTQ KL offers a high resolution isolation (HRI), intelligent data dependent acquisition and makes the use of iTRAQ labels for carrying out quantification of peptides.
